Queen Mary Tea Garden, c. 1910

The tea gardens, with a sandpit, bandstand, nursery and large pond exhibiting model historic ships, were very popular. The model ships, including the Lusitania and the HMS Victory , were purchased by Fred Coutts, the proprietor of the tea garden, after the Scottish National Exhibition of 1911 at Kelvingrove where they had been moored along the River Kelvin.
