Piobaireachd recordings by William Waites

Some recordings of ceol mòr on the highland bagpipe. For those interested in the technical details, the drones are made by Henderson's in the 1930s, probably in the workshop that was coincidentally right below where my office is at the University of Strathclyde. The chanter is a Niall of early 1990s vintage. Reeds are all cane, and the bag is sheepskin. It might be a bit of an old fashioned setup, but the pipe is just as I have always had it.

Lament for Hugh

This rendition is a little experimental. Reconstructionist even. Interesting despite some minor misses in the crunluath à mach, particularly on the D where I play the style descending from E rather than rising from B. Recorded 2017/09/04.
